As stated in a review by Charles Torgerson, we were taken to court over a bill that was not ours. Mr. Kirk even admitted it was not our bill, but decided to take us to court anyway because "he needed his money." He didn't consider that we all had to miss a half day of work to make the said court appearance. Seems like working that half day might have made him more money than bogus court appearances. Mr. Kirk replied to the Google review by Charles Torgerson that we were swimming in our pool one week after closing on our new house. We were actually swimming in our pool 2 weeks after closing, which was 3 weeks later than the originally planned pool opening date. He was willing to bring the bill down to "just chemicals," which he estimated verbally would be approximately $500. For $500 he has lost customers that could have utilized his services for the life of our pool. When we go to buy a new liner in a couple of years, it will not be with Kirk's. When we purchase chemicals or need maintenance, it will not be with Kirk's. When we have maintenance on our hot tub, it will not be with Kirk's. When we need work on our fireplace, it will not be with Kirk's. When we build the fire pit we have been discussing, we will not utilize Kirk's to do it. He has lost thousands of dollars of business with us over a bill he admits was not ours.
It seems that reason goes out the window when Mr. Kirk "just wants his money." Buyer beware. Better yet - just buy somewhere else.
Given that they were unable to complete the work in a timely manner, it required more chemicals to complete the job. The previous owner sent Kirk’s a check, but for a lesser amount than Kirk’s would have liked. He felt, for some reason, that his only recourse was to sue my wife and I for the inflated bill (which was inflated because of Kirk’s incompetence). The case was dismissed, because it was completely baseless. Just beware, if you do business with this person, this is the sort of thing that he thinks that this is an acceptable way to do business and treat people.
If it was possible to give negative stars I would. He doesn't communicate well, and when he does it's usually a lie or half truth. New pool had hole in liner. Concrete worker drank on job. Too much to list here. Don't hire this crook
I would like to think Kirks pool for a beautiful pool completed in less than 4 weeks. The customer service was above and beyond anything I could have expected, all the personnel that entered my yard during the entire operation were professional and hard working , and believe me the conditions were tough the heat and humidity were rough. The staff at the store where equally as efficient and I have nothing but praise for the entire Company. I would like to say if you are thinking about a pool before you make your decision please you are welcome to look over my pool and see for yourself. I did research before choosing Kirks and read all the negative comments but I took in the totality of the process. This company has been around Greenwood for at least 20+ years and has grown into a good size company; with this in mind I knew there was far more good than bad out there. I base my decisions off of logic and I am a critical person when I need to be and I can honestly say my logic paid off and my criticism was put in check by excellent workmanship. The Roberts family are blessed and once again think you Kirks pool and staff.
It's very unfortune that Jerome Marullo had such a bad experience with Kirk's Pool. I have personnaly observed this company building my friends pool, Brian Wilson, and have seen first hand extraordinary customer service from Kirk's Pool. Perhaps Mr. Marullo received poor customer service from the sub-contractors used on his particular job. Very sorry Jerome Marullo, I hope you can work out a solution with Kir's Pool and turn your negative Rate and Review to a positive customer experience.
Over the summer, my wife and I bought a new home. As part of the concessions, the previous owners were to have the pool open and ready before the closing date. The previous owner contacted Kirk’s Pool and Hearth to do that work. Even though our closing date was pushed back a week, they were unable to complete the agreed upon work by the agreed upon date. Kirk’s argued that money should have been set back in escrow for the work…even though the reason that it was not (as it was with other agreed upon work which was known would not be completed before closing) was their own incompetence to complete the work by the agreed upon date before the closing.
On a customer service note - our only experience was trying to get their business to finish a job they started before we owned the home. Phone call after phone call we were told different things. Finally Mr. Kirk showed up to our house to finish the job after his employee created a clog that prevented the pool from being opened for 11 days (from the time the clog was discovered to when the line was unclogged). While he was polite during that particular visit, it was a bit too little too late. He sealed his fate with us when he sent us an inflated bill with a threat of legal action for a job that we never hired him to do. His first correspondence with us over this issue stated that we had 2 weeks to come to payment terms on a 90-day late bill (we had not owned the home 90 days prior) or he would take us to court.
